Meet Margie Benbow
Hey, I'm Margie
NC Roots
Marjorie “Margie” Benbow, a lifelong North Carolinian, attorney, military spouse (and widow), farmer, volunteer, and former teacher, embodies a commitment to service and a vision for a better future for our district and state.

With a diverse background spanning agriculture, law, business, and education, Margie is uniquely qualified to fight for and represent you. She is not a career politician, but is running against one..
It is time to bring new leadership to District 62 and change the direction of NC.
Career & Education
Margie spent years as a medical researcher until she said, “I do” to the love of her life, Colonel Hector Henry, and moved to Concord. There she taught science and coached men’s varsity soccer at Concord High and at the community college.
During a heart-to-heart conversation with her husband, it became clear that her teacher’s salary would be insufficient if something ever happened to him. She changed her career and obtained her law and MBA degrees from Wake Forest. She has continued to teach part-time.
Driven by a passion for education, Margie understands the importance of investing in our public schools and supporting our teachers. She is committed to ensuring every child has access to quality education as is guaranteed in our NC Constitution.

Military Widow
Margie’s commitment to service is rooted in personal experience. She supported her husband Colonel Hector Henry’s military roles as NC’s Surgeon General and during his deployments.

When he was in combat (Iraq (thrice) and Afghanistan (twice)), she provided emotional support for the spouses of those under his command. Tragically, her husband passed away due to his combat service.
Subsequently, she became a VA-accredited attorney to help fight for veteran’s rights. Margie has lived the ultimate sacrifice and will continue to support our military and veteran families.
Personal Life
After her husband passed, Margie relocated to her farm in the Triad and continues to practice law. Her favorite crops are flowers and honeybees. She has several animals that she claims rescued her.

Margie is also an artist. Her formal training includes Guilford Tech (AFA), art classes at Guilford College, and Penland School of Craft. She is a member of the American Glass Guild and on the Board of Piedmont Craftsmen.

Margie is running for office to serve you and be a change agent to put NC on a better course.
While in college, she volunteered at a rape crisis center. There she saw that many rapes go unreported and learned the importance of women’s reproductive rights. Her opponent and GOP candidate for governor, Mark Robinson, want to take away a woman’s right to control her body. Margie will fight hard to make sure a woman with her doctor makes reproductive decisions - not politicians.
Representing the People
Margie’s record indicates she truly cares about people. Her platform prioritizes the voices of her constituents and emphasizes common-sense government. She believes in putting North Carolina on a better course by tackling issues such as public education, big government overreach, gerrymandered voting districts, job creation, fiscal responsibility, the environment, human rights, and reproductive rights. Margie will represent you, not rule over you.

Join Margie Benbow in her campaign to bring new leadership to District 62 and serve as a voice for all residents. Together, we can build a brighter future for our district and for North Carolina.
